Galerie Lee opened five years ago in that area near the École des Beaux-Arts which contains some eighty galleries within a four block radius, the highest single concentration of art galleries in Left Bank Paris. Gallery owner, M. Loeuk Lysath exhibits contemporary art exclusively.
The Stephanic exhibition includes some of his early hand-colored photographs and a recent portfolio of digital prints. Stephanic utilizes both scanned traditional photographs and entirely digital images for his work. Images are manipulated and refined on the computer and printed with a giclée (inkjet) printer on fine art paper.
Among the French artists he shows are Jean-Claude Chesnay (winner of the Medaillle D'Or in the Salon des Artists Françai's, Paris and the Prix du Salon de Bologne) and the fresco artist Jeanne-Marie Bertaux. The latter was featured by Galerie Lee in its participation in the St. Germain-Des-Pres Bilan du Printemps "99 and has been cited by Andre Therive in the jounal Le Peintre as "une fresquiste qui sert bien son bon et rare metier avec un dessin largement rhythmé" a review of Mme. Bertaux's Galerie Lee exhibit appeared in Courier des Metiér's D'Art No. 180, May 1999. Among international artists who have had solo shows are Katsuko Shoge of Japan and the Italian landscape painter Giovanni Vattimo. Concerning Vattimo, Marina Pizzoli in 1997 has written in La Lumiére de las Couleur (an extended catalog essay),
"Dans l' exhaltation des rapports chromatques Vattimo a trouve donc son chemin pour depasser liusure de la vision. Essai ardu celui de renfermer dans l' espace limite d'une toile le souffle de l' infini."
